Google has recently added features to it's patent search engine. It is made a good service into a very good service. The feature it added are search for pending or published applications. There is no longer need to go to USPTO site to search for pending applications.

Digital TV Converter Box

Analog TV will cease to exist in US after February next year. I recently bought a RCA converter box and it functions Ok. There is a need to play with the indoor Antenna to get different channels. Tuning speed on digital channels are much slower than on Analog TV. However once the channel is received it's at much better image quality.

I am hoping the TV stations will increase the digital transmitter power after February next year. Higher signal power should solve the reception problem.

Youtube finally got snapped up by Google. Technology wise there is not much special about Youtube compare with say Yahoo video, but the real worth come from its brand name and web site visit count. How about yahoo re-brands its video service to be "zunetube".

The average housing price in Santa Clara has stayed flat in the last month. This week the year over year average housing price increase is just 0.9% in Santa Clara.

Recently the 10-year bond rate has come down and FOMC may be ready for a rate cut. So the mortgage rate is on the way down, will we see the housing price picking up again? According to our good friend at http://www.patrick.net/housing/crash.html it's not going to be the case but he was wrong for at least 4 years.
